DHA and ARA supplemented infant formula
Infant formula today is supplemented with DHA and ARA.DHA and ARA are long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids that are found naturally in human breast milk.Their addition is an attempt to improve brain and eye delevopment. The DHA and ARA used are made from algea and fungus and extracted by hexane. These components are structurally different from natural sources and may negatively affect infants during critical stages of development. In fact, the only true benefits obtained may be by the manufacturers who have increased their profits by using infants as guinea pigs. The scientific and medical community still have a long way to go in understanding the exact role that these powerful PUFAS(polyunsaturated fatty acids) play in the human body.
